Administration / Leadership
Nancy Gabrielson, Administrator, started her administrative duties at Belmond Medical Center in February of 2007. Nancy grew up in Belmond and has a true love for the Belmond community. Nancy brings many years of health care experience to BMC. She began her health care career as an RN and has had a wide variety of nursing experience in all levels of hospital care including administration.
She is a previous Director of Nursing for BMC, which at that time was Belmond Community Hospital. She returned to school for health care administration and spent 9 years as Administrator of Belmond Health Care Center – an 86 bed skilled nursing facility. Under Nancy’s direction Belmond Health Care Center was deficiency free for annual state/federal surveys for 8 years. She relocated to Clinton, Iowa 3 years ago and accepted a position as CEO of a 150 bed skilled nursing facility. Nancy is excited to return to the Belmond health care community and be a part of the excellent progressive health care that Belmond Medical Center strives to provide.

Mary Wali joined the Belmond Medical Center, as the Business Office Manager in August of 2007. She brings 30 years experience in various departments of hospitals and clinics. The last ten years she has worked in billing and coding, as a patient financial representative and as an Office Manager. Kim Wilson, Clinic Nurse Manager began working at Belmond Medical Center in February of 2006 as a full time LPN working directly with patients and providers. In August of 2007 she accepted the position of Clinic Nurse Manager. Kim is active on several committees at BMC. She serves on The Standards of Behavior Committee, Patient Voice Committee, Employee Awards and Recognition Committee and the Building and Grounds Committee. Mona
Kotenbrink became the lab manager at Belmond Medical
Center in January 2006. She first started at BMC as a PRN weekend
lab tech in 1999, and became a full time staff tech in March
of 2005, before moving into the manager’s role. Mona
is a 1980 graduate of Mount Mercy College in Cedar Rapids,
with a Bachelor of Science major in Medical Technology and
minor in chemistry. She oversees 3 other lab employees, and
is responsible for the lab quality control and quality assurance
programs, new laboratory procedures and instruments, maintaining
appropriate lab billing test codes and Medicare compliance,
and also takes call for the department. Prior to coming to
BMC full time, Mona managed the laboratory services at FGH
in Hampton for 15 years, as well as having worked at Mercy
Medical Center in Mason City, Park Clinic, and two hospitals

Stacey
Ritter has been a registered nurse since graduating
from NIACC in 1991 with her ADN. She worked for MMC-NI from
1990-1998 in the float pool, first as a nursing assistant and
then as a registered nurse. She has held various positions
including: staff RN, house nursing supervisor, working in the
ambulatory observation unit and the operating room. She obtained
surgical tech training through Rochester Vo-Tech, gaining clinical
experience at St. Mary’s Hospital. Stacey started at
BMC in October of 1998. She is responsible for surgical services,
employee health, infection control, cardiac rehab as well as
being a clinical leader for the hospital nursing staff. Stacey
participates on the Nursing Practice Council that helps guide
current nursing practices to ensure patient safety. She also
participates on the safety and pharmacy and therapeutics committees.
Stacey is also involved with the appreciation and celebration
committees both of which are part of the service excellence

Jayme
Dougherty, RN-Director of Nursing has been at Belmond
Medical Center since 2000. Jayme began her career as a Certified
Nursing Assistant in the hospital, obtained her Licensed Practical
Nurse degree and began working in the clinic setting while she
furthered her education obtaining her Registered Nurse from Ellsworth
Community College. Jayme is responsible for the Clinic and Hospital
Nursing departments. Jayme finds satisfaction in working with
others and providing the best quality care possible and believes
strongly in being an effective leader, you lead by example. Jayme
has worked in an outpatient surgical center and on a medical
floor while working full-time at BMC. BMC is committed to Customer
Service and Patient Satisfaction. The words: Quality People,

Janel Lau is a licensed Physical Therapist who serves as
the manager for Rehabilitation Services. She is employed by
Mercy Medical Center North Iowa but has been serving Belmond
Medical Center since 1999. She has a degree in Physical Therapy
from Northwestern University in Chicago. Janel completed her
Master’s in Business Administration
her doctorate in Physical Therapy from Des Moines University.
She leads the Wellness Committee at Belmond Medical Center
and serves on the Service Excellence Committee. If you need

Monica Christensen is a Registered Respiratory Therapist
and has served the Belmond Hospital as Director of Cardiopulmonary
Services since 1998. Monica received her Bachelor’s Degree
from Midland College in Fremont, NE. Monica has taken all 5
National Boards in the field of Respiratory Care and is certified
in various occupational health areas as well. She is involved
in both Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation and works with
both the in and out patient population to assist in their respiratory
needs. She performs hearing tests and respiratory screening
for various industries in the area in an effort to meet their

Dan Peterson started at Belmond Medical
Center in October of 2005 as the Maintenance/Housekeeping Manager.
He brings
with him over 20 years of maintenance and management experience,
including experience with pneumatics, hydraulics, high and
low voltage trouble shooting and general building maintenance
and upkeep. For questions

Shawna Pralle joined the Belmond Medical Center staff in November 2007. She is the manager of the Nutritional Services Department. Shawna’s responsibilities include meal planning, ordering, safety, sanitation and nutrition. Every day she provides meals to patients and staff at the Hospital and Clinic. Prior to coming here Shawna worked at the Belmond Health Care Center. Currently, she is enrolled in the University of North Dakota for her CDM certification. I just recently took over the Human Resources position as of 5/21/07. I have a degree in finance from Waldorf College and I am proud to be starting my professional career here at BMC. I am co-chair for Standards of Behavior and Ethics Committee, Communications Committee, and the Employee Rewards & Recognition Committee. I am involved with many different areas here at BMC and I look forward to helping out the public in anyway I can. I am proud to work at BMC where the Standard of Excellence is met and exceeded everyday. |
